    Ieder jaar wordt in de MLB de Kenesaw Mountain Landis Memorial     Baseball award uitgereikt. De award gaat naar de meest     waardevolle speler van het seizoen uit de American League en de     National League. Per seizoen zijn er dus 2 MVP's. Sinds 1931     wordt het klassement gekozen door een groep journalisten, de     Baseball Writers Association of America. Elke kiesgerechtigde     maakt een top 10 van spelers. De speler op de eerste plaats krijgt     14 punten, de nummer twee 9 en de tiende speler krijgt 1 punt.
